Trail Description
About this trail
Chewacla State Park is home to 30 miles of diverse trails suitable for mom, pop and the little shredder. The park includes a skill development area, rowdy cross country, sweet flow trails, dialed dirt jumps, and a gnarly free ride area highlighted by the largest road gap in the Southeast.

Chewacla is a park with two faces, the Lower and Upper Chewacla System. The Lower features old school, hand built rowdy cross country ranging from beginner to advanced. The Upper Chewacla Trail System is home to our flow trails, free ride area, and some extended chunky, technical rock sections. The Upper features elevation gains and losses with a number of wooden features to keep riders of all skill level on their toes.

In addition to the trails Chewacla has a variety of on site amenities for off the bike enjoyment. There are a number of both primitive and improved camp sites, as well as CCC era cabins for overnight stay. And for those hot Alabama days Chewacla is home to a large lake, waterfalls and multiple creeks perfect for a post ride soak.

Review: Really well put together trail system. Easy to read signs, so navigation is a breeze. Expert features were always marked with a yellow sign that is very easy to identify. The park has a lot more parking areas than their map shows. If you are looking to ride a specific trail, make sure and drive as close to it as you can, you might find a parking lot and not have to go very far at all. The only drawback that I saw with the whole place was the forbidden zone was in a bit of disrepair. Didn't make it unrideable, just made it seem a bit more sketch than it normally would. I live about 2 hours away, and will definitely be going back monthly at a minimum.

Review: I really like these trails, however they are marked very poorly. I commented on them last year , but no changes have been made. After riding over 100 trail systems throughout the SE, these are the most poorly marked trails I have encountered. I spent more time figuring out where I was than putting the hammer down and getting in an awesome work out.
The trails have a lot of very nicely done sections of rock gardens and and usage of the natural terrain. The two areas of man made obsolesces are nicely done

Review: Chewacla state park has an amazing trail system. CAMP keeps the trails well maintained. There are many different trails to ride for many different experience levels. Fast and flowy trails!

Review: The trails are in very good shape and you can make a great day of it. I must say the trail markings are a little confusing, the red route for example needs to have directional arrows at the intersections. I am an experienced rider and lost the route several times. Have fun.

Review: The trail was in excellent shape. I did Kick 6, Rock Bottom, and Tiger Woods. Props to the CAMP crew, every time I go there, they have made more upgrades. Very well signed. Lots of fun!

Review: I don't think I can fit how much I loved this trail system in one review. I only had a chance to do a few trails in upper chewacla but was blown away at the diversity of trails, features, and difficulty. Whether you like xc, enduro, or even dirt-jump this place has the trails for everything. The map does a great job of showing the different routes and they are all very well marked and thought out. The skill area was very nice, had jumps, bridges, and logs of incremental size to progress on. If you have not been here yet, I highly recommend you make a day of it

Review: Although it was raining when I rode part of this trail, the condition of it were still really good. I didn't get to ride but only half of it, but the trail is very well maintained and fun to ride.
I will be going back next weekend to ride the other half.

Review: This is a pretty decent trail if your in the area. A somewhat confusing Trail system with too many junctions.

Review: I agree about the signage it needs to be revisited. We road trails 1-12 I think this is the lower section and we had a lot of confusion at various intersections on which way but we managed to figure it out. I hope to go back and do the other half soon. All in all it is a great place camp picnic and ride and the staff were very helpful as well.

Review: Chewacla has an awesome assortment of trails. My favorite area is the upper section where Rock Bottom, High Gravity, and Tiger Woods are. There's awesome flow, the trail composition feels great, and it seems to be holding up really well against erosion. There are a number of wood features to ride, some easy and some very advanced. The lower side is decent, but it's much rootier with less flow.

If you're from Columbus like I am there's nothing else like it within an hour and therefore the best place to ride in that range. The only downside is that you have to pay $4 to enter, but of course it's good to support the park.

Similar Trail: Upper side is like FATS but rockier and more contained feeling
