For mountain bikers, the Caballero Canyon trail is a short but fun out-and-back ride. The road is officially a fire road, but in reality has some fun singletrack due to erosion and deterioration of the trail. There are several sections that are a bit rocky and steep, so novices may find it to be quite a challenge.
The trailhead is on the east side of Reseda Blvd directly across the street from the Braemar Country Club (a couple of miles south of the Ventura Blvd and the 101 Freeway). . There is tons of free street parking on both sides of Reseda Blvd.
The top of the trail intersects with the dirt portion of Mulholland Dr. You can make a quick loop by turning (right) west on Mulholland and riding up the fire road to the dirt portion of Reseda Blvd, You then turn right (north) on Reseda and head all the way down until you reach the trailhead again. The easy way to do this loop is the reverse: head up Reseda Blvd, go through the park entrance, up the fire road until you reach Mulholland. Turn east (left) and head down Mulholland until you reach the Caballero Trail on the left. It is a very fun downhill from there.
The Caballero Canyon Trail is a very popular trail and is an entrance to several other trails. As a result, there is a lot of traffic on it (both bikers and hikers). Please be careful courteous to other people on the trail!
