Trail Description
About this trail
For mountain bikers, the Caballero Canyon trail is a short but fun out-and-back ride. The road is officially a fire road, but in reality has some fun singletrack due to erosion and deterioration of the trail. There are several sections that are a bit rocky and steep, so novices may find it to be quite a challenge.
The trailhead is on the east side of Reseda Blvd directly across the street from the Braemar Country Club (a couple of miles south of the Ventura Blvd and the 101 Freeway). . There is tons of free street parking on both sides of Reseda Blvd.
The top of the trail intersects with the dirt portion of Mulholland Dr. You can make a quick loop by turning (right) west on Mulholland and riding up the fire road to the dirt portion of Reseda Blvd, You then turn right (north) on Reseda and head all the way down until you reach the trailhead again. The easy way to do this loop is the reverse: head up Reseda Blvd, go through the park entrance, up the fire road until you reach Mulholland. Turn east (left) and head down Mulholland until you reach the Caballero Trail on the left. It is a very fun downhill from there.
The Caballero Canyon Trail is a very popular trail and is an entrance to several other trails. As a result, there is a lot of traffic on it (both bikers and hikers). Please be careful courteous to other people on the trail!

Review: A fun downhill for an intermediate-level rider! Over all too quickly. Recent heavy rains had carved deep narrow ruts which probably made it trickier than usual, I'm guessing, but still mostly easily rideable. I only rode it downhill and then up Reseda Blvd, which is a wide paved street, but the fastest way to get to the top (or close to the top). The views overlooking the canyon from Reseda give you a good look at the trail, though it's a slog of a ride up. It's worth it, though!

Review: Nice little workout: it gets progressively harder until you get to mulholland. Downhill a little technical, newbies go slow. Very smooth and enjoyable downhill. Make it an even better ride by going south on mulholland for about another mile, then turn back at the first gate and do the farmer's trail single track. It's super!

Review: The climb on reseda to reach the fire road is somewhat hard but the fire roads aren't bad and the single track on the way down is fun with some rocky spots but avoiding hikers has to be the hardest part. Overall fun.

Review: tough uphill, excellent downhill depending on how many hikers there are on the trail. beautiful views of the SF Valley at the top. most of the trail is fire road that has degenerated into a singletrack of sorts.
