Review: First time riding at Buxton. It was great! The trails were well maintained and more importantly they were sign posted better than I have seen anywhere else. ( not that I have done a wide variety of trails yet)

Review: Very fun flowing single tracks with amazing views of Cathedral Ranges. My first time here but definitely won't be my last.

Review: Way too long since my last visit - Can you please move these trails 1 hour closer to Melbourne :)....Once again blown away how much fun this place is. Berms have been increased to rail faster, a few new obstacles, just enough to keep you on your toes. As mentioned in my last post, the best flowing fun trails I have ridden so far. Damn I wish it was closer to home so I can ride more often.

Review: Seriously good fun. Not real technical nice open trails with some great obstacles - the end of Acheron Ridge Trail with it's roller coaster makes it the most enjoyable trails ridden so far.

Review: Fun flowy network of singletrack. Very well sign posted throughout. Several options for adding or subtracting distance to suit. Great pedalling in the forest, with some periodic short descents to up the fun factor. Trails suitable for most abilities but a decent level of fitness required if tackling the longer loops, especially on a 30 degree summer day. "Off camber" and "cathedral" where the highlights.

Review: I like the trails - well signed and maintained, with clay / sand trails that give great grip in the dry.
I like the area - picturesque forest with occasional farm views.

I do feel this area does not cater so well for advanced riders, so keep that in mind if that is your desire.

Well worth a visit.

Review: I'd recommend this place as just as good as Forrest , 5 out of 5 . This place has almost everything . A network of some 20 km of singletrack for mountain bikers only ! From beginner , intermediate to advanced , this place caters for all . The singletracks are narrow , well signposted & the terrain & scenery changes from trail to trail . Smooth fast flowing singletrack weaving its way through the Black Forest State Park through forests of eucalypt trees , plush valleys , numerous creek crossings , bridges ,very smooth burms , jumps all along the ways of varying degree . Switchbacks , some rollercoaster sections of singletrack flowing into more flowing singletrack . The climbs are not too bad at all , a moderate fitness level required . The main loop is the Acheron trail & circuits the bike park , intersecting most of the trails within the park . Another main loop is the Wet Creek Trail which circuits the park as well , crossing a flowing creek ( good for topping up water bottles ) several times over bridges & through lush fern forests . Its exactly 100 km from Melbourne to Buxton , & the town itself is a tiny little town nestled nest to the Black Forest State Forest . There is a Shell roadhouse just before the turnoff , good for coffee & fuel , water etc . The turn off to the park is just after you pass the Shell roadhouse on the left heading north . Its well signposted & once you get to the main car park the trail head starts right there . There is water , mobile phone reception & a shelter when it rains , & when it does it pours ! For a trip a reasonably short drive from the city of Melbourne (1 1/2 hour drive) , uncrowded flowing trails & through the breathtaking views of the Yarra Valley on the way there , I'm already planning my nest trip there - thoroughly recommended .
