Knowing what I know now, I would recommend anyone riding the first time do the yellow loop. I was put off by the start on the dirt road, and then even on a paved road. I thought it was so easy, and I was hoping to find one of the spurs that would be more technical. I got my wish and branched off, however, it was a bit much. I dismounted my bike so many times and was not having fun. I was wishing for yellow and had no idea how long I would have to go to reconnect. While the trail you are on is marked excellently, there are not any maps ever indicating where you are on the trail system at any given time which would have been helpful. When I finally reconnected with yellow, I was pleasantly surprised by the remaining 5 or so miles - that it offered some technical features. I wish I had stuck to that in the first place. I think a beginner could even handle that with a few dismounts.
