Mountain Biking Buffalo Rock
#931 of 1,408 mountain bike trails in Colorado
This is a mostly wide double track or two track trail, consisting of scree surface. Starting from the southern apex of the trail, the north side of the trail is a pretty nice 1.2 mi descent with a short climb in the middle. There are two steep descents on this side heading south to north. The southern side of the trail has one steep descent in the beginning and then mellows the rest of the way. The trail is marked as Trail 33 on the ground. It makes up a good portion of an inner loop within Cheesman Ranch Trail.

Follow the main road (Wapiti Road) through the park first west and then north for 2.9 miles until it dead ends at the back end (far north end) of Grouse Mountain Campground. Here you will find a parking lot/trailhead for several trails. Lots of parking available. You can pick up the trail in a few spots - two different spots on the north end of Cheesman Ranch Trail (Trail 17) and one spot on the southern apex of the trail via a short connector trail from Cahill Pond Trail. There is 0.6 miles between the two points on Cheesman Ranch Trail.
Fairly nice downhill on the north side/leg of the trail with a couple of steep descents and a pedally fast ending. The south leg makes a more reasonable climb. Double-wide and two-track the whole way.
