Trail Description
About this trail
Just ride up and stay on the main road, it winds up through neighborhoods, watch for cars! it will eventually turn into a dirt road, shortly after theres another parking area u could use if you want to start further up away from town. continue up to the top of the pass for great views, then go flying back down! this is a simple dirt road, most people drive up the pass so you have to deal with that, probably not a good idea to go on a holiday weekend! this ride tops out at 11,482 feet, the altitude is the only thing that could make it a diffucult ride as the grade isnt steep or technical. I thought when I did this ride it was ~18 miles out and back starting at the lower parking lot close to main st, so please correct me if you have any more mileage.

Review: Nice climb up old railroad grade. Not too steep, but will get the legs and lungs working after a while. There's some nice choices of singletrack that shoot off the road to explore. I generally enjoy riding here because I can climb on easy non technical trail then find some great downhill singletrack.

Review: This is a dirt road. There's no singletrack on the main route, but the scenery is fantastic. The altitude is high, but the grade is easy. This is best done if you can arrange a shuttle and do the whole thing point to point over the pass. The Eastern end meets highway 285 at the tiny hamlet of Como just north of Fairplay. Whichever way you do this, you are in for spectacular scenery. This is best done as an exercise spin or a chance to gawk at the mountains. There are singletrack options off this route if you wish to take them, including the Gold Dust Trail on the Como side and the Baker Tank Loop on the Breck side.

Review: Hey everyone, don't be tempted by the $19 annual fee to get "trail maps." They're not topos, and most of them look like they were hand-drawn in Windows Paint.

Review: This is a good introductory ride to the area. The road can be dusty at times due to all the traffic. Beware of cars pulled over and cars passing. Singletrack spurs off road at the winter gate as well as at Bakers tank.
