Trail Description
About this trail
Climb for about 11 kilometers. You'll pass an orange gate on the left around 7-8k, keep going past that. At 11k, there's an orange gate with a "Private Property" sign on it. This is the start of the trail - the trail is sanctioned, don't worry, you just have to jump over the gate, or if you go up 10 yard further, there's a barb wire gate with signs that say no moto-ing, you can get on the trail that way. Either way, you'll start on double-track going down and pass a huge jump (gapper) on the right, and past that a short bit there's singletrack on your left - take that, not the doubletrack on the right. Ride singletrack through pine forests for a while, and any little offshoot spits you back on the trail, so don't worry. After a while, you'll get to a gate you can squeeze through and into the grassland. Stay on this singletrack the whole way down. You'll cross gates, some locked, others not, through rugged fun Colombian singletrack. At the bottom you'll get to the main paved road that leads into Valle do Cocora on the right, and Salento on the left. Take a left on the road, it's a bit of steep climb for 3k or so, and it takes you back into town. Stop somewhere in the main square and grab a Club Colombia!

Review: Very fun singletrack down - rugged, tough Colombian singletrack. Rooty forest singletrack, wide open grasslands, deep trail, great Colombian riding experience. The bottom part of the trail gets rocky and technical, and awesome. The initial climb up the road isn't terrible.

Talk to Eduardo at the Plantation House hostel for directions, trail recommendations, and a decent Giant hardtail - he maintains them well, fork works, brake pads were new, etc when I went.

Call Yambolombia hostel down towards the coffee farms to get a tour and the best full suspension bikes in town (from what I could tell). I don't think you can just rent a bike, you might need to take a tour., but they offer a bunch of different rides.
