Trail Description
About this trail
A sick course with an urban edge to it, burms, jumps, steps, ramps and hug gaps. It's the only course of it's kind and I promise if you miss this you will regret it, that's how much of a thrill you will get. Riders from all abilities are welcome to ride it, there are go-arounds if you choose to go around something.

Review: I had a local take me throughout mt penn to get a good picture of the mountain. I am a xc racer through and through loving faster flow and although this would be great for enduro high suspension rigs it was not for me. I cut both my tires on the sharp rocks w sections that were so steep that i had to walk my bike down. Trails that many times would get lost in a sea of rocks. Summary. If your bored with nice mtb trails and are looking to challenge your skills at the highest levels mt penn is for you. I heard that their are more sane portions of mt penn but i didnt see em and i wont be going back to find em.

Review: There are several trails that lead down to the park at the bottom from the William penn memorial firetower on skyline road, you can't miss it. If you go past the wall at the end of the parking lot you'll fine a line trail. This trail has 10 - 15 foot hard drops mixed in with pretty easy trail riding. Once your at the bottom you can get good jumps and go pretty fast as it runs easy, if you just do what I did and walk the crazy parts it's a really fun trail to ride

Review: Being from MI, This is the most serious, rough, advanced downhill I have been on. I started at the Fire tower and went down and took the road back up. It would be nice to have a "trail head" with a map, there were some marker on trees but nothing with real instructions or directions in the area.

Similar Trail: the only other PA trail I have been to is York County Park

Review: The duryea is held here which runs 2.1 miles with very nice jumps. If youre not racing in the duryea there are road gaps to avoid. Starting at the fire tower there are more trails and decent jumps if you keep to the left. You will also have an average of 30 to 40 mph on the "duryea" trail.

Review: I do not recommend going there thru the city.. From reading, go 12E to Spring Valley Rd, head south (right) off the hiway and then left onto McKnights Gap. Follow that up to the stop sign and take a left, then a quick right onto Skyline Rd. Follow Skyline Rd a bit, you can't miss the big fire tower and communications tower up there.

Review: Airfield is actually Drenkel Field, home of the Flying Dutchmen model airplane field along Skyline Drive on Mt. Penn. You can also access that area either from behind or to the right of the William Penn Memorial Fire tower. There is also another area behind the over look that's just before the Pagoda, that entire area is called the network . Mt Penn, front and back is the best riding around. There is fast down hill, single track technical down hill, killer cross country and some serious hill climbing. The trails are sort of marked but there are off shoots everywhere. If you get lost just go up or down, depending on where you started. you will always come to a road because the system crosses several back roads. Have fun its worth it. Most of Reading doesn't know what it has right in its back yard. Did I mention the historic ruins? * Review edited 4/29/2010
