The trails are very well marked with signs in this whole area. After crossing road to trail head you will be headed to the left, passing #2A (right side) and #6A (left side). The trail comes to a Y, take the right side #2B. At this point the horses feet have dug up portions of the trail, as Pyramid Riding Stables use these trails. After a short distance, there is a long steady climb up the side of a hill. This portion of the trail is not chewed up by the horses hooves. The views start here and as you may be resting (gasping for air) your eyes can take in the beauty of the park. Once you reach the top, you are on the Pyramid Bench and the trail follows the natural edge for a bit but is chewed up. There is a trail sign here and to the left #2C, follow #2B to the right. Keep looking to your right as there are spectacular views of Kerkeslin, Signal and if you know where to look you can also see Fort Point.
You climb at an easier pace for a bit longer and #2B actually turns into the forest for a bit. So follow along the bench and the trail splits to a Y again, to see an incredible view take the right. It is a short ride to a point on the hill / trail. From here you can see Jasper Park Lodge, Lakes Annette, Edith and Beauvert and also Old Man Mountain. Keep following the trail and it meets up with the trail that went to the left at the Y. Now you have to decide between roots or the dug up trail (horses hooves), it's a bit of a challenge. There is a slight down hill into the forest and then the trail heads back along the bench where you are once again treated to incredible views as you go straight pass a trail to the right #2B and onto #2J. This loops around the edge. We have never gone down this way but noticed that it does meet up with #2B in the forest. We turn around and head back to #2B after taking some great photos of the view. Once back onto #2B, it goes down hill for a bit though the trail is pretty churned up and as we had a beginner with us this time we took #2E back to #2 as he had had enough. On an earlier ride we had continued along #2B to #2H and then #2i, which takes you up and down to Pyramid Lake (more great scenery). We then followed the gravel road back to the gate where you can choose to go back into the bush onto #2 and back to your vehicle or go check out Pyramid Island.
