I outfitted this bike with the part from my Fisher Cobia when I broke the frame. It's pretty heavy and frankly, could never be built into a lightweight no matter what components you use. If you don't mind the weight, it's a tough and responsive ride. I'm pretty hard on things so mind take quite a bit of maintenance.
Pros Strong and free of flex. Pretty tough bike. Available factory direct on eBay at half of the MSRP. Same weight as lower end rigid frames.
Cons Shock needs to be aired up every 50 miles. After 300 miles or so a creaking sound appeared that I can't locate.

If you're concerned about weight-go elsewhere. If you're curious about the 29er experience, this is a good bike to start with.
Pros
strong, sturdy, basically a bulletproof bike at a VERY competitive price.
Cons
Thank |Heavy, like its owner! Could probably lighten it up with better components.
