I had the chance to demo a new tall boy for the day. The bike was top notch. If price was of no concern to me, it would absolutely be added to my stable. That said, the frame is VERY costly which makes it hard to justify as a builder, and even at it's higher end spec'd packages, I would prefer a few different options. Perhaps when we start seeing some of the prices fall and they hit the second hand market, I will take the plunge. A friend of mine who also demo'd the bike for for a day fell in love and has one on order.

    Pros
    LIGHT, Fast, Great Geometry, looks

    Cons
    Price

I spent a couple months demoing different bikes and the LT was the clear choice for me. I had been riding a 29er hardtail and loved it but I have been getting into more aggressive trail riding which the bike wasn't really designed to handle. As soon as I took the LT out for a ride and sent it down a few bumpy descents I knew it was the bike for me. It actually caused me to laugh out loud a few times at how fun it was! For how much travel it has I was expecting to sacrifice some climbing ability but I don't think I've ever felt held back by it. I think if you're looking for a bike that is great for any type of XC riding but still has the capability to send it off jumps and take it through some very technical terrain with ease

    Pros
    Great Climber
    Playful Handling
    Eats up Rough Terrain

    Cons
Chainslap was a bit loud before adding chain guide (but that's really searching for a flaw)

For me, this bike is among the best of the best of full suspension 29ers. I purchased frame and fork and customized everything else to my preference. I had demoed bikes for 6 months before narrowing down my decision to the Niner RIP and SC Tallboy LT. The awesome climbing ability of the Tallboy LT is what edged it out for me. It has great handling and is very responsive. SC has managed to give it extra travel to eat up probably any technical trail I dare tackle, while avoiding any sluggishness in ride for those smooth flowing singletrack days. Its at home on probably any trail. I came from a hardtail 29er and this bike is equally as quick and capable a climber. I highly recommend at least getting it on your short list of bikes to demo.

    Pros
Very efficient climber, well balanced, fluid handling, extremely confident on descents. Just a blast to ride!

    Cons
None that I have noticed as of yet
