I've had this bike for a little under a year and it has served me well from mild downhill to dirt jumps. Have has plenty of wrecks without damaging the bike at all it's crazy how durable it is

    Pros
Looks awesome, compliment frame, good price for the bike, durable.

    Cons
Heavy, needs some upgrades from stock.

If you can live with the throw-back to low-tech, this bike is a great value. I needed a new bike and honestly didn't have the cash for my dream bike, so rather than spend $1200 for a bike that [to me, at least] would still have been a huge compromise, I dropped $425 and have no regrets. I ride all the trail systems in the Front Range, and maybe I need to descend a bit slower than some, I still have a great time. And a rigid bike will definitely improve your skills , both uphill and down.
I started out mountain biking on a Bridgestone MB3 in 1992, and this is like deja vu, going back to a rigid steel bike. I'm not sure if I'll be able to get something new next year, but even if I do, I'll keep the D440 around for less challenging training rides...

    Pros
A pretty simple bike, but every component is spec'ed pretty high for a bike in this price range (I paid $425 NEW for mine in 2012).

    Cons
OK, so it's rigid and has 16 speeds and rim brakes...
