Rider questions

Q: How much should I ask for mine? I'm selling it.
A: There is a site online (sorry not at the computer so don't have the link) that is a "bluebook" with used bike prices.....you might also try browsing the "buy/sell" section on Pinkbike to see what your bike/comperable bikes are selling for. A lot will obviously depend on the components and the condition.....and bikes have notoriously low resale value.

Q: In excellent condition what would it be worth

I would recommend this break for anybody who's looking to get started in the sport but doesn't have a ton of money to drop on gear

    Pros
It's a great beginner's mountain bike that is upgradeable and it's a great salad starting point for someone who's looking to get into the sport but doesn't have a bunch of money to spend on a new bike

    Cons
It's a Walmart bike so you get some snotty looks from brand snobs but other than that no issues

    Excellent cheap beginner bike

    Pros
27 inch wide handlebars for better control, disk breaks up front and back, full suspension both adjustable, 24 speed, light weight, wide stock pedals, comfortable shifters, metal break levers

    Cons
1.95 stock tires need to be widened to 2.20 and could stand to be changed to a 30 speed

I bought this bike in 2004 and it works as well now as it did then. It doesn't do anything very well, but it gets the job done. The biggest pro to this bike is its price.

    Pros
    Inexpensive and solid.

    Cons
Heavy, does not shift well, does not brake well, and suspension does not work well.

This comes a a preassembled bike for the most part from Wal-Mart. I asked and the stock person (ie bike builder)got me one out of the stock room that had not been assembled yet. If you take time and either assemble yourself or disassemble and reassemble it with proper lube and adjustments you end up with a decent low buck entry level light trail riding bike. Obviously this isnt going to compete with a major brand $400 LBS mountain bike but its less then half the cost. I hadn't ridden a bike in over 25 years this was bought just to get me comfortable on a bike again. But since having it for 3 years it hasn't let me down. It says it ways 44lbs. I put mine on a diet out of the box and got it down to 36lbs weighed on a professional shipping scale 3 times. I like the weight and feel of course I'm 250lbs and 5'11" so its a big frame 20.5" seat post, and its comfortable to me. I am in the process of stripping it back down and upgrading the compenents. Lets remember the most important thing in this sport is to be out there having fun not knocking on someone cause of what they ride.

    Pros
Sturdy Frame. Decent drive train for mild riding.

    Cons
The Components - Spring, Fork, Wheels.
