if your price range in under 400 . You can get this bike online for a lot less. This bike is great bike when u add street slicks u can ride in know u can ride in rain . When ive ridden this bike in rain I have a full wet suit for protettion and I wore ski mask or googles for eye protection. .I hightly recommend any bike rider to wear eye protection .. As it could save your eyes as it did mine . I wore safety glasses when driving at night I recomment full lighting and a rechareable spark light usb . also kept a headlamp with battery ability . I also recommend adding a sealed bottom braket for this bike as it will add performance to this bike and durability .I used bike for commuting daily. This bike did everything right and never failed it was strong bike and it gave me transportation where there is nonexistent public transit .For the price this bike cant be beat between other bikes in the same price range this bike will make you very happy as it did for me . Unfortuanately my bike got stolen from a home invasion. I plan on replacing it when i get some cash . I save money so ill wait a little bit then Im going to have to find this bike

    Pros
excellent bike handles very well and coast is great. I rode this bike through alot miles over 300 a week. Tires will wear that is normal . I always replaced rims with a alex rims. There only about 20 - 30 a piece just took off my quick releases and rear cassete off rear wheel put onto my new wheel and was ready to get back to work.Good shifters . Parts are not expensive easy to maintain . Always a youtube vid to help u . Plenty of easy to get shimano parts. after about 2yrs i did a recalibration after a bike chain replacement of my derailer and it was riding normally again.

chains do stretch over time but the chain on my bike was kmc and it lasted a very long time when they stretch u will notice chain pops of derailers . That is a sign chain needs changing. Easy fo find on ebay. My bike was fully upgraded after 2 yrs of riding this was my second steel horse .

If you need a mountain bike for getting to point a to b and you just like to ride for run around town and park but don't wanna drop too much cash this is the bike for you! Just a few Min or upgrades needed (nothing over 200$ of upgrades needed) also tho I have the 2002 model (before dimondback got shxtty) so really unless you can fund a used per 2003 model go for something g else and don't pay more than 150 for a used one else of these bikes even it top condition with upgrades.

    Pros
Great frame, shifters work well, nice looking bike, relatively inexpensive (350 us dollars),

    Cons
The seat sucks (replaced with a body geometry seat, a bit better) my petals cracked first 6 months (replaced those with blue odyssey pedals) no water bottle holder!:O ( attached one "Tacx") also the back shifting skips at times. Had to replace brakes and lines after 3 years

    Sucks.

    Pros
    Looks good. Its cheap.

    Cons
Its not a mountain bike, it just looks like one. Rode it twice on blue trails and stripped the crank. Brought it back to dicks, they exchanged it, rode the new one once and stripped the crank. It sucks. Unless you just want to ride around the college.

This is a great bike for any skill level.

    Pros
It's a very nice ride as far as a hard tail goes. It's shifting is very smooth and the brakes provide quick stopping in a pinch.

    Cons
Not really any drawbacks that I can think of at the moment.

Great value on this bike. Double wall rims, and a good spec sheet for a $300 bike!

    Pros
Great spec for the current 2011 model. Great campus bike, commuter bike, "campground bike", and good for city path riding.

    Cons
    plastic pedals
    cheap saddle

Overall, its a great bike. i havent had any problems with it except for the pedals. it rides grat on the trail. It has an oversized 1st gear making it easy to climb up hill.ProsIts light weight, but very durable. It has Shimano thumb shifters. It has Spinner front suspension, witch is adjustable.ConsIt has terrible stock pedals. they cracked after two days. It doesnt have the most comfortable seat in the word

As the guy above me said, I haven't been biking on single track for too long, but used to bike 10+ miles a week when I was younger, and this thing is definitely worth the money. Even on the single track though, this bike is sweet, instantly made me want biking to be one of my major hobbies.

    Pros
Nice solid frame, heavy but I don't feel like I'm going to brake it. Its got Shimano everything; front and back derailleurs. The stance is very aggressive, feels very stable going through turns fast. Only cost $200.

    Cons
Disc brakes would be sweet, definitely went and bought the same seat cover the guy above me did, made the difference.

I don't have much experience mountain biking. I bought this bike from Dicks Sprting Goods in Dec. 2008. I paid $240.00 for it. I have been on several rides from 6.5 to 9 miles. It performs great. in the beginning I wasn't sure about the gears but now that I have figured them out a bit it is much easier to ride. I would say that if you are an in-experienced rider this is a great bike for you. It is relatively cheap and solid. Have fun.

    Pros
It is a solid bike, looks great, seems to shift good and handles great.

    Cons
I wish it had disc brakes and the seat is uncomfortable. I went out and bought a Bell Gel Seat cover and it is now much better.
