WTB Vigilante 27.5

February 27, 2017

Model/Year: 2015

Pros: Great Grip

Recommendation: If you are looking for a tire that will grip almost anything this may be it. This is the most aggressive tire I have ever owned. It has made my mountain bike experience so much better when dealing with wet roots in the south. No more slipping all over the place.

Model/Year: 2016

Pros: Great traction, great price, great company.

Cons: A little on the heavy side, and to me it was a little aggressive to be a rear tire and a little to tame for a front tires, sounds weird I know.

Recommendation: My go to set up back in the day was Schwalbe Hans in the rear and a Magic Mary up front. I hear the new convict is like the Magic Mary, so maybe WTB is looking to compete with Schwalbe's super popular combo.

Model/Year: 2013

Pros: Grippy, corners well, wears long.

Cons: Not the fastest rolling tires.

Recommendation: Ridden these for well over 500 miles and they still have lots of tread and no missing lugs. I would highly recommend these. I have the 29 inch mounted front and back on Stans flow ex rims.

Model/Year: 2013

Pros: Super grippy, wide profile, great for cornering, shines on sandy and muddy terrain, durable-knobs stay on even after months of hard use & it's tubeless ready!

Cons: Weight--930g/tire!

Recommendation: Highly recommended for all mountain/dh/free ride. It can be a bit slow and heavy but if you do not mind lugging in the extra weight, it is a great tire for sand and mud. Wide profile is awesome for cornering and confident control at speeds. Despite the price these tires last a while and for that it's worth the money.
