Model/Year: 2014

Pros: Utterly indestructable, awesome video quaility, overall very satisfied and good "bang for buck"

Cons: After about a year of owning this, I found that it has trouble turning on. I usually have to wait several seconds while holding down the power button, or I have to try several times.

Recommendation: Buy this camera. It is epic.

Pros: Will never die, takes pretty good photos/videos, easy to find and easy to find accessories/mounting for it, wifi capability

Cons: Heavy, poor battery, poor lowlight photography

Recommendation: This is still a great camera, but there are plenty of other options out there now that might be worth a second look; I'm pretty sure you should be able to find a better value on something out there now.

Model/Year: 2015

Pros: the camera takes awesome action video. Nice to be able to view your action out on the seamless Bluetooth to a phone is great.

Cons: may need a super computer for editing. I tried a well equipped PC for editing it took for ever, but on a MAC things went so much faster.

Model/Year: HERO 3 Black Edition

Pros: Picture quality
Features
Durability
Available accessories

Cons: None

Recommendation: I really like this camera. The available mounts is staggering as are the other accessories that you can get. Add in the iphone app and I think it's a pretty complete package. I know this is under "helmet cam" section, but I'm of the opinion that the chest harnesses give the better quality and viewpoint. I like seeing the handlebars and what the rider is doing. The helmet cams are a little odd to me and the looking around is strange in some cases. If you're looking for an action video camera, I'd say this is really your only choice, isn't it? I know there are others and one in particular that gets a lot of positive talk, but it's like the mobile phone discussion, there's the iphone and the other guys. The other guys do some nice things, but they're still "the other guys". This is GoPro's world. Don't try to fight it.

Model/Year: 2013 3 Black

Pros: Great video quality
Time lapse photography
Burst
Waterproof
Mount ability and variation
Bluetooth

Cons: Battery life
Sound
Design
Shape
Battery life
Piggyback battery life
Price
Low light capture needs to be a slow frame rate

Recommendation: Let's face it, all action cameras are junk and we really don't need one, but oh we still gotta have it! The GoPro is in fact the best of all of them. I have had issues with mine, look up reviews, everyone has. Sometimes I missa capture bbecause the camera doesn't always do what you tell it to or it thinks you hit the button twice. The through buttons on the waterproof case sometimes continue to hold the button too. I haven't used the 3 so maybe that one is better. All in all, its rare that I don't take it with me on a ride anymore. I prefer 1080p setting without protune. It allows for easier playback on more systems and has fast frame rates.

Model/Year: 2013 Black edition

Pros: Great video. easy to use.

Cons: Bulky

Recommendation: IF filming with a chesty mount camera upsidew and film in upside down mode. This will give you the best angle for awesome riding. Or under saddle aimed at rear tire if your looking for some interesting b roll.
