Model/Year: HERO 2 (or whatever it was called back then)

Pros: Small form factor. Video quality is good.

Cons: Difficult to use. The waterproof case is a hassle whenever you need to change a card or plug it into the computer. The button interface, while simple, tries to do too much. Tough to know exactly what is happening with the camera which leads to frequent buddy checks--is it on?

Model/Year: HD Hero

Pros: -Records great HD footage
-Tons of cool mounting options
-Makes you want to ride harder and try new things to capture it on video

Cons: -Navigating the menu takes some time to learn

Recommendation: There are newer, better versions of this camera today but I would still recommend it to anybody in the market for a sweet HD video camera. Go get one and become a youtube sensation now!

Pros: Very simple to use, and some how gets rid of the bumps and vibration from trails.

Cons: Makes me ride more and my body won't take as much abuse as the camera

Recommendation: I bought the Hero2 and have not been able to stop using it. I just use Windows Movie Maker for my movies, but they turn out great. I have attached this thing to everything from jeep to mt. bike, even a Kart racing cart.

Model/Year: Go Pro Hero 960 HD

Pros: Great HD video
Playback right to your tv
Easy on/off operation
Waterproof
Compact
Indestructible case
almost unlimited mounting options

Cons: Poor sound
Battery could last longer
Need large High Speed card for best results
Sound quality stinks

Recommendation: I got the 960 HD by Go Pro as I am just sharing videos with friends and Youtube. This is an excellent camera and almost no noticeable difference between this and 1080. Simple operation albeit tiny display. I play this on a 52" HD TV and you feel like your on the trail! Love this camera. Bought an additional helmet mount and bar mount. Have mounted it everywhere from a ski pole to the seat post to a kayak! Waterproof indestructible case is awesome. Even comes with a vented back for better sound. Like stated in a previous review, just dub over sound with music. If you want to make ride videos or just show your friends and family what it looks like to ride, you can do it with this camera. And from just about any view or angle!

Pros: Great video quality. Lightweight.

Cons: Editing software requirements. Makes huge hills look flat.

Recommendation: The vented helmet mount is very secure once you add the rubber gasket. I was very impressed with the sound quality and lack of wind noise even at speeds of 20+ miles per hour. Use and downloading videos is simple. Editting requires software that is not normally included with your laptop. About $100 gets awesome editing software.

Pros: Decent camera for the budget minded rider..Tonne of mounting options

Cons: none

Recommendation: Decent for the money as it is very well built. If you can save a few more dollars though I would say go for the HD..

Pros: Super easy to use, water proof, high quality video, and a ton of mountain options!

Cons: Not HD, and eats through batteries like nobodies business.

Recommendation: This camera is so easy to set up and use. The number of mountain options in different places on your bike, helmet, and elsewhere (chestmount etc) is incredible! I love using this camer!

Pros: Best action cam ever! That's why the chilean mine rescuers used it video the rescues. Video is awesome and clear. This is not even the HD model!

Cons: sound poor due to waterproof case. The waterproof aspect is WAY more important though. Getting stuck in Palo Duro canyon in the rain helped me see the value in that.

Recommendation: I would but this in a heartbeat! I highly recommend it. Easy to use and a great value for the quality of video you get.

Pros: I am not a "techy" at all, but this thing was extremely simple for me to use and produce excellent videos with on the first try. All I had to do when I got home was plug the SD card into my Mac and everything was there for me to see and manipulate. I see earlier reviews complaining about clarity, but those must be of the non-HD model; I have the HD one and everything came out crystal clear.

Being able to mount it to my helmet, seatpost and front fork with the accessory kit was definitely a bonus -- I've already got all kinds of ideas of things to try out next.

Cons: The beep that tells you it's on needs to be louder, because when you have it on your helmet or fork and can't see the LCD screen, ambient noise easily obscures the beep.

Wish the packaging made it clear you need to purchase an 8GB SD card separately if you want to take full advantage of the battery length.

Recommendation: Definitely a fun gizmo that makes me want to revisit my favorite trails even more often!

Pros: Good video for the price wish they had high def one when i bought this one.

Cons: Sound quality is not great because of the waterproof housing which you need for mounting purposes.only takes 2GB cards

Recommendation: Good camera but get the high def one if you have the money. bigger cards excepted and higher quality video
