Model/Year: 2013

Pros: Quality Durability Weight Climbing

Cons: Stock wheels (Easton)

Recommendation: I've had this bike for over 4 years (5k miles) and I've put it through the ringer. It's been on everything from fun flowy singletrack to rock gardens, 3' drops, snow, XC racing, you name it. I've upgraded just about everything over the years but not out of necessity. The weakest area for me were the stock wheels from Easton. I stripped the rear wheel hub (warranty) and then the replacement wheel as well. But with the Stans Arch MK3 this baby rocks!

Model/Year: 2016

Pros: Can't ride it

Cons: Crappy factory service. I called for a simple part and got the brush off. It was a new bike and broken in the box. Don't bother with a Company that doesn't stand behind their products

Recommendation: Don't buy their junk

Model/Year: 2016 Hei Hei Trail DL

Pros: - near perfect geometry
- spec screams performance
- 1x11 drivetrain
- short chainstay
- wallet friendly

Cons: - heavier than pricier competition
- spec does not include a dropper post

Recommendation: The Kona Hei Hei Trail DL is a near slam dunk purchase when comparing against the competition. The spec is on point delivering premium performance at value.

Model/Year: 2008

Pros: Relatively durable, long lasting, great customer support

Cons: Not stiff enough

Recommendation: Oh yeah

Model/Year: 2012

Pros: Rear and front suspension lockouts. So accelerates on flats well. Descends well with koans linkage suspension design. Kona so u know its gonna last forever.

Cons: Little heavy but base model has same frame as uber exp models so u can put lighter parts on it. Speaking of the base wtb speeddisc wheels have given me zero problems and set up tubeless super easy- strong bead,

Recommendation: Buy it for the looks keep it for the ride.

Pros: Weight
Frame Design

Recommendation: I just built up a 2011 Hei Hei 29 frame... and instantly decided it was the best damn bike I've ever had. Fits me like a glove, I can climb and pedal hard with no suspension bob, and it descends very predictably. I'm really happy with this frame design.

Pros: Lightweight and durable frame. Amazing attention to detail and solid component mix out of the gate. Frame geometry is perfect mix between XC race and AM dabbling.

Cons: The wheels and tires may not be quite up to all-mountain level riding, depending on your terrain and speed.

Recommendation: Kona did a good job walking the line between XC and all-mountain with the Hei Hei 2-9. This is a great bike for XC riders who like to spend all day in the saddle without feeling beat up or folks who don't like to slow down for short gnarly sections on the XC trail.
