Ok guys, I’m not a freerider or a djer, but I was interested in building a back-yard mtb park.

      Here’s the plot: [url:ehr8b1zn]http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=42.390416,+-76.394136&sll=42.390418,-76.393722&sspn=0.002896,0.002478&ie=UTF8&t=h&z=16[/url:ehr8b1zn]

This is a field owned by my parents, and I’ve got the go-ahead to do whatever I want with it. It’s about 350 ft by 350 ft, a pretty good hunk of land with a slight downhill. Maybe 20 ft elevation change sloping diagonally to the lower left of the square.

The land is covered in tall grass right now. I’m thinking I can mow a path and start hauling wheelbarrows of gravel and rocks in to make jumps and banked turns and stuff.

I know this is an ambitious project to do by hand, but I really don’t have any resources to commit besides blood, sweat and a lawnmower. What do you guys think? Any ideas?

Yea man nice open space. Probably your best bet would be to make a trails that flows really well rather than big jumps. Think of a really oversize pumptrack with berms, rollers, and a few appropriate sized tabletops. Maybe some optional lines that require a gap jump or small ladder bridge. You have to kind of get creative when you dont have any natural land features to help you out.

with that space i would just build a nice sized pump track, then work my way up to building a jump line, since thiers not really any natural features on that piece of property adding some wood features is going to be kinda hard but not impossible, just start small with your building and work your way up to the more bigger stuff.

I’m hoping to do the same thing. I have a whole acre of dirt hill just waiting for a mellow-ish downhill run. (I’m not a freerider and only have a hardtail 😕 ) Anyway, what could I do, mostly with the top part of the hill (to the left of the marker).

by the way, that was a good Idea i copied of getting a pic of the land from google
