Pivot suffered the loss of 12 e-bikes this weekend, apparently stolen. In an Instagram post on the Pivot Cycles EU page, the brand is asking for the mountain biking community’s help:
“Our UK demo fleet has been stolen. This past weekend, 12 Pivot e-bikes were stolen during our UK Test Tour. First, please keep an eye out for them. If you see any suspicious Pivot bikes for sale in the coming days, let us know at [email protected]. Every tip helps.”
The post doesn’t share additional details on how the e-bikes were stolen or exactly where they were located when the theft happened. It does, however, share the unfortunate news that the last two demo dates on the tour will be canceled.
“This also means we’ve had to cancel the remaining test days, including the demo weekends at @pedalabikeaway and @rideinnerleithen. We know many of you were looking forward to riding with us, and we’re sorry for the disappointment and the short notice.”
With retail prices for Pivot electric mountain bikes like the Shuttle LT starting at roughly $9,000 USD, the value of the stolen bikes is likely well over $100,000.
Hopefully, spreading the word will make it difficult for the thief or thieves to offload the bikes. With these two events in Wales and Scotland, it is safe to assume the theft happened in one of those regions, and mountain bikers can keep an eye out for the bikes.
