Mountain Biking Ranger Ridge
#838 of 1,430 mountain bike trails in Colorado
This is one of the better trail in the park if ridden clockwise. It starts with a 0.5 mi cruiser section mostly slightly downhill and then turns downhill in earnest with a steep 0.3 mi descent. From there the trail mostly climbs for a 0.25 mi with a hike-a-bike section in that. It finishes with a fast 0.5 mi downhill to hook up with Preacher's Hollow Trail (Trail 4). The trail is signed as Trail 3 on the ground. The surface is mostly scree and generally has pretty good traction for scree, so you can let it rip pretty well except on the steepest sections. A bonus is the beautiful forest in which the trail is situated.

Follow the main road (Wapiti Road) through the park west for 1.2 miles to the School Pond Trailhead on your left. It is before the Visitors Center.
If ridden clockwise, this trail has a lot of downhill reward for the payment in the climbs. This is one of the better trails in the park for a mountain bike imo.
