If you prefer clipless trail pedals, and you ride the same bike to the grocery store in your loafers, Redshift has a solution for ya.
Their new Mousetrap SPD pedal conversion snaps into a pair of clipless pedals to provide a platform. No more wearing a hole through the bottom of your kicks with these little contraptions. The pair is held together by magnets, making them harder to lose, unlike the single socks that sustain your washer and dryer.

Mousetrap pedal converters couldn’t be simpler to use. Separate the pair, fold the platform tab up, insert the tab into your SPD pedal, then close the tab and get going. Though similar pedal converters exist, most require a lot of force to insert, and can only be removed by rotating them as you would with a clipless shoe.
I wanted to test the pedals on trails, but that didn’t feel like a safe idea in the PNWet, and I don’t believe that’s the intention of this little invention since there aren’t traditional pedal pins on the surface. Grip across the 80 x 105 x 10mm platform is inadequate for trail riding, but it’s entirely adequate to make your SPD pedals more comfortable around town.

A pair of Mousetrap platforms are great for commuting and chill gravel rides when ya don’t want to wear clipless shoes. If that’s worth $59.99 to you, check ‘em out! Available in multiple colorways.
