Ride Concepts has, well, a new concept: mountain bike helmets designed to match your bike’s travel. The new Ride Concepts Dissent half-shell helmet is recommended for riding bikes with 140mm of travel or more, while the Deploy helmet is designed to pair with bikes running less than 140mm of suspension travel.

Both helmets feature MIPS Evolve Core rotational impact protection tech and adjustable visors. Each is offered in three sizes — small, medium, and large — and in three colorways. At a glance, the Ride Concepts helmets have an angular look with generous coverage, bringing to mind MTB helmets like the POC Kortal or Troy Lee Designs A3.

Ride Concepts Deploy XC/trail helmet

The Ride Concepts Deploy helmet is the lighter of the two new helmets, with a claimed weight of 400g. The Deploy features 16 vents and a polycarbonate shell. Compared to other mountain bike helmets in this category, the Deploy is not very lightweight or overly vented. Rather, the focus seems to be on safety and durability, with MIPS Evolve Core rotational impact tech and a three-piece shell featuring in-mold EPS construction.

Priced at $140, the Ride Concepts Deploy helmet is available in a camo-esque colorway called Evergreen Wash, plus gray and black.

Ride Concepts Dissent all-mountain/enduro helmet is “overbuilt”

Ride Concepts says the Dissent is “overbuilt in the best way possible,” designed for all-mountain, enduro, and gravity riding. It’s got 15 vents — one less than the Deploy — and weighs slightly more, at 420g. The shape features extended coverage and utilizes a four-piece construction design. In addition to MIPS Evolve Core and an adjustable-position visor, the Dissent also includes a Fidlock buckle on the chin strap.

The Ride Concepts Dissent is priced at $190 and is offered in three colorways: “Dune Mash,” white, and black.

First non-footwear product from Ride Concepts

The Ride Concepts brand launched at Interbike in 2018, dedicated to creating high-quality, purpose-built mountain bike shoes. Later, Fox Factory bought the brand. These are the first helmets, and the first non-footwear products, bearing the Ride Concepts label. Could we see more helmets from the brand, and/or a move into other categories like clothing and body protection? Time will tell…
