The Woodland Loop Trail at Jacob Fork Park offers fun and adventure for hikers, trail runners and mountain bikers alike. The intermediate level
trail is 2.5 miles long starting from the parking lot, or 2.25 miles beginning at the division for bikers and walkers.
A collaborative effort between the City of Newton, Catawba Valley Heritage Alliance and Lightning Cycles, the trail's construction was completed in
2013 becoming the first of its kind in Newton. Designed by Trail Dynamics, the trail has a minimal impact on the local ecosystem. In an effort to minimize erosion, the tread of the trail was constructed to
allow surface water to flow evenly across the trail, following its natural course downhill. The Woodland Loop Trail complements the 100-acre park that marks the convergence of the Jacob Fork and Henry Fork rivers into the South Fork River. The park serves as an example of a state of the art, environmentally sensitive, low-maintenance park facility.
