			Mountain Biking Godley Head Track

#39 of 194 mountain bike trails in South Island

The seven kilometre Godley Head Track starts with a gnarly climb over rocks and old lava that will try to take out your chain wheel and bend your pedals. After that it flows nicely across open tussock country with glorious ocean views all the way to the Godley Head car park. From there it's a fast and flowing run back along the other side of Godley Head Road to Breezes Col. From the sign there you can take the curvy and exhilarating Anaconda track down to Taylors Mistake or head back to Evans Pass.
It's a great trail - one of the best on the Port Hills - you'll be smiling all the way after you've got past the initial climb. The start is just a few metres after the end of the Greenwood Park Track. The two make a fantastic combination.

From Christchurch, head out to Sumner and continue up to Evans Pass. The track begins on your right a few metres along Godley Head Road (which shows as Summit Road on Google maps). To make a loop of it, park in Taylors Mistake car park, ride up Evans Pass Road, along the Godley Head Track and then down the Anaconda Track.

The Godley Head Track is one of the best on the Port Hills for skilled riders. There is heaps of variety in pace and technicality. It's up on wide open hills with stunning views - a long way from hell!
