Just got ‘er today. My first mountain bike in over 12 years. Since it comes nicely spec’d out, it’s pretty much stock. Haven’t put the clipless pedals on yet, as the shop was out of any shoes that fit me right.

Ho-lee crap! Would you believe I never even noticed that thing on there? I’ve been blinded by the sheer beauty of it, I didn’t even realize that was there. Yeah, I’ll be taking that off before I christen her. Unfortunately, work and a shortage of mtb shoes in my size (that fit my feet right) are conspiring to keep me off of her until this weekend.
Then Ima gonna mount her and ride her like we’re newlyweds!!! 😄 -
Well, I broke her in, and I had a pretty fun first couple of rides, until…I carried too much speed into a sand pit, the front wheel went sideways, I involuntarily departed my ride, and I bent the front rim. So I can add another $130 or so for a new hoop + labor. Dammit. Oh, well, lesson learned!
