Australian mountain biker Jongewaard reconsidered for Olympic team

posted July 14, 2008 by trek7k

olympics.gifChris Jongewaard will be reconsidered for the Australian Olympic mountain bike team after he won an appeal against Cycling Australia, the country’s governing body for the sport. Cycling Australia had barred Jongewaard from the team due to criminal charges he faces over a hit and run accident. Cycling Australia had been afraid to nominate Jongewaard to the Australian Olympic Committee since they felt he didn’t meet the committee’s ethical standards requirement.

I hope he didn’t hit a cyclist, that would have been ironic ;)
