About Me

Long time wrench

My Bikes

Great article! I've worked in shops since I was 16 years old, and it has been an incredible journey. It took a while to be able to earn a good living, but if you work hard and constantly strive to be the best, it will happen.
I've been using the MSR Trailshot filter lately. It is compact, and allows me to collect water easily while pumping. Highly recommend!

I've wanted one of these for so long! Great interview!
I'm excited to hear your opinions! Just spent a week riding the new Salsa full suspension line up in Stokesville, VA and it was incredible!
Awesome write-up man! I was super bummed to miss it this year, but after reading this, I'm fine that I missed the Green Swamp.
After recently dipping my toes into event organizing, I have learned a lot of what goes on behind the scenes. Most of these events require permits, timing systems, insurance, environmental impact studies, facility rental, port-a-potties, and a lot more! All of these things cost a lot of money! The event I put on recently became…

As a contributing writer for Singletracks, it may put me out of the running for having a reader bike.   This is my 2019 Salsa Fargo, fully kitted out for bikepacking.   This has Force 1,...

The Synth shares the same pins, body shape, and spindle as the Scarab. They just lack the customization options of the Scarab.

I've been eager to check these out! They look insanely fast!
Unfortunately I didn't have four of the same wheel and tire, but I did use all Maxxis tires with the same casing. I never had any issues with the bead setting on any of them, the issue I found with the non latex sealants were their inability to seal any sidewall porosity. I didn't include…
I'm super interested in Flat Stopper and Joe's No Flats
What other players do you want to see?
I've used it in the past. It was super messy and caused the tire to stick together when trying to remove it. I was pretty unimpressed.

It would catch when going over logs/rocks, but it was mainly protected by the chainring. I'd wipe it down after muddy rides.
They do a small (31mm), medium (32.5mm), and a large (34mm). I went with the large because I came from using extra chunky ESI's. They certainly helped my wrists and elbows once I tried em out!
I really liked the Klic HV! I don't know of many out there that are as sleek.

Upper Black Mountain and Farlow Gap at Pisgah are both insane! I also recently rode North Mountain in Roanoke, VA which has a BRUTAL climb up to the ridge!
I've seen this group before in the Apalachicola Forest near Tallahassee. They are good about keeping the area clean, but they are known to butt heads with locals. Drug use, and large...

updated Coldwater Mountain conditions to Good
The travel changes due to leverage. When you're on the hoods you get more travel than when in the drops or on the top of the bar. As far as climbing, if you push down hard you will feel it. It has no vertical movement when pulling up. Any movement when climbing is pretty negligible.
I haven't put a bag on it, but I have used aero bars with it. I would recommend playing with the elastomers, and it should work just fine.
