Nukeproof already has enduro bikes with 160 or 165mm or rear travel, and downhill rigs with 190 to 200mm. The travel gaps in their full-suspension lineup are narrow, and today they have decided to plug them with a new carbon fiber bike called the Giga. Like the Mega enduro model, the Giga can be ordered with 27.5″ or 29″ wheels, and the two rim diameters are paired with 180mm or 170mm of rear-wheel travel respectively. Both wheel sizes come in a full small to XX-large size range, and they all run 180mm forks.
The new whip is not only well endowed in the suspension department, but it’s also covered in a clear, paint-saving kit, has an integrated rear mug guard, and the down tube and chain-slap areas are covered in some heavy silencers. Nukeproof says there’s space for a 750ml water bottle on all bikes, and they included a gear mount under the top tube so park patrons can ride without a bag. The frame also features an external 73mm bottom bracket and fully internal cable routing.
No, your eyes don’t deceive you: that’s a single-pivot rear suspension platform, similar to the system used on the brand’s Dissent DH frames. The first 50mm of rear axle path moves in a rearward direction, preventing the tire from hanging up on square-edge obstacles in the trail. The suspension progressivity can be swapped between 25.5% and 29%, giving the bike as much pop as a rider wants, and making it handily coil-shock compatible.
Frames designed around both wheels sizes are available with three different complete builds, or as a stand-alone frameset for $2,599.99 (€3,299.99). The least expensive Comp build includes a RockShox Zeb Charger R fork and Super Deluxe Select R shock, a full Shimano Deore drivetrain, and M6100 4-piston brakes, retailing at $3,699.99 (€4,699.99). The Elite build receives a Fox 38 Performance fork and X2 shock paired with an SLX drivetrain and brakes for $4599.99 (€5,799.99), and the top build has an XT drivetrain and brake set with the Kashima-coated Fox suspension for $5,499.99 (€6,999.99). All of the bikes are finished off with Nukeproof saddles and cockpit, and a set of Michelin Wild Enduro tires and they all include a carbon fiber bottle cage.
On the angles page, this bike is looking quite good. Reach measurements are 435, 460, 480, 500, and 520mm across the 27.5″ size run, cutting back 5mm on all of the 29″ bikes. Chain stays on the smaller-wheeled bikes are 435mm, with 445mm on the 29ers, and either rear triangle will accommodate up to a 2.5″ tire width. The head tube angle on all Giga frames is 63.5°, and seat tube angles steepen as the frames grow larger, ranging between 77.75° to 78°.
