That’s right! New Mexico has two promising candidates for the 2015 Bell Built Grant, each very different and deserving in their own right. In south-central New Mexico, the Village of Ruidoso sits adjacent to the Lincoln National Forest in the shadows of the Sierra Blanca mountain range about 3 hours south of Albuquerque. Like many other candidates for the grant, Ruidoso has already established a solid network of trails (Perk Canyon, Grindstone Lake, Fort Stanton), yet seems to be missing a certain element of progressive, fast, and fun downhill that inspires confidence in the colt while still challenging to the warhorse. With the help from IMBA, Bicycle Ruidoso and its army of support hope to join the circle of riding hotspots from around the region including: Albuquerque, Tuscon, Chihuahua, El Paso, Austin, and Amarillo.
Voting for Central Region candidates begins April 27 and ends May 11 where the winner will go on to compete with the West and East Coast Finalists in a separate online popular vote held May 25 through June 5.
