NS Bikes released the Define series in October of last year, and they now have a full alloy lineup to complement the carbon trail machines. The Define AL 29er comes in 130, 150, and 160mm travel options, and the 160mm bike is available as either a mixed wheel platform or a 29er “Race” build with a Fox Factory 36 with all the trimmin’s. NS didn’t skimp on the important parts, keeping geometry for all of the new alloy bikes the same as the carbon models.

Bottom bracket height on all models can be raised by 5mm from the stock setting by swapping out the lower shock mount. Shock mounts are available separately on the NS Bikes website.

Each of the alloy frames has this cable routing channel in the down tube to provide the appearance of internal cables without the hassle.

The Define AL 130 is available in three frame sizes, with reach measurements from 440 to 500mm, a headtube angle of 65.5°, and 440mm chainstays. The single model pushes into a 140mm Fox 34 Performance fork, Float DPS shock, uses SRAM Guide R brakes, and has a full SRAM GX Eagle drivetrain, all for €3,999. The frameset alone can be had for €2,399.

Define 150

Define AL 150 bikes also cover three reach sizes, from 430 to 490mm, with a 64.5° headtube angle, and the same 440mm chainstays. The mid-travel bike balances its front end with a 160mm Fox Performance fork, a burlier DPX2 Shock, SRAM Guide RE brakes, and a mix of GX and NX Eagle drivetrain components. The complete bike retails for €4,199, and the frameset alone cuts the price to $2,399.

Define 160 Race

Finally, the Define AL 160 is available in a mixed wheel build or with a blingin’ Race component spec. The mixed wheel bike’s three reach measurements stretch from 427 to 487mm, with a slaaaack 64.3° headtube angle, and shorter 438mm chainstays. This bike also pedals a mixed SRAM GX/NX drivetrain, slows with SRAM Guide RE brakes, and squishes on a 170mm Fox Performance fork and Factory DPX2 shock. The mixed-wheel version sells for €4,199, and, you guessed it, the frameset goes for €2,399.

The balanced-wheel 29er “Race” version of the Define AL 160 reaches between 427 and 487mm, with the same slack 64.3° headtube angle, and 438mm chainstays. Its drivetrain is a mix of SRAM X01 and GX Eagle, with G2 RSC brakes, 170mm Fox Factory 36 fork, DPX2 Factory shock, and Fox Performance Transfer dropper. This top build retails for €5,699, and there doesn’t appear to be a frameset option available at the moment.
