What can you get for $1,299 these days? Well, a lot of things, including a Grand Canyon aluminum hardtail mountain bike from Canyon Bicycles. These bikes have been available from the brand for a while, and now folks in the US can buy one directly from the Canyon website.

The Grand Canyon comes in a women’s build that offers a size run from XXS to medium, and a “unisex” version with sizes between XS and XL. The XXS to small size frames roll on 27.5″ wheels, while the medium to XL bikes all get a set of Boost-spaced 29er hoops. It’s great to see a tapered head tube, Boost spacing with proper through-axles, and internal dropper post routing on entry-level bikes like this one, allowing riders to upgrade the bike with any components they prefer.

In addition to the smaller size options, the women’s frame comes with a slightly steeper headtube angle and shorter reach measurements. The head tube angle on a women’s medium Grand Canyon is 68.5°, while the unisex frame leans back to 67.5°, and the reach on the women’s medium is 420mm while the unisex medium is 435mm. The chain stays and head tube lengthen as sizes grow to better balance the front and rear triangle and to optimize the fit for different height riders. The chainstays on the women’s medium are 428mm long, and they’re 430mm on the unisex frame.

Both the women’s and the genderless frames come in one build, which includes a SRAM SX Eagle 12-speed drivetrain, a dropper post, a 120mm RockShox Judy fork, and a set of Schwalbe Tough Tom 2.25″ tires.
