I finally got a chance to get out and truly trail test my latest piece of Sombrio Gear:  the Burst long sleeve jersey.

Unlike the last Sombrio shirt I reviewed, this one is an FRD Fit, meaning it has a more generous cut.  I like both the FRD and slim fits for different reasons, but if you get anything labeled “FRD” you might consider getting a size smaller than normal.

I’ve mostly been wearing the Burst as a cool weather layer for morning starts or for after cooling down post-ride.  The other day I wore the jersey biking at the Lunch Loops because it was cloudy and windy off and on–and the Burst jersey proved its worth once again!

The polyester jersey-knit fabric in the Burst just moves with me.  I don’t have to worry about sleeves getting in the way, about the back of the shirt catching on the seat, or really about anything.  It’s just another great piece of moisture-wicking gear.

Often I go on short road-bike rides during my lunch break at work and this shirt has become a must-have for those rides on cooler days.  The mesh underarm panels provide maximum air flow and it has an anti-bacterial treatment.  The many times I’ve worn it I’ve never noticed it smelling at all (and that’s saying a lot).

The Burst long sleeve jersey also compresses into almost nothing.  I can fit it and my Sombrio jacket in my backpack. For summer rides at higher altitudes, like those in Crested Butte, having a few extra layers for when storms hit is important!

Thanks again to Sombrio for letting me review their women’s gear.  This is definitely a company whose products I plan to use again and again.  The Burst retails for $84 and can be found on bike.sombriocartel.com.
