Trail Description
About this trail
This is a simple out-and back with a lot of technical sections and some hike-a-bike. It climbs sharply for a mile, then goes another mile on bench cut sidehill, before dropping sharply back to the South Platte River and paralleling the river for the last mile. The trail appears to be built primarily to provide anglers a route around private property to gain access to the further reaches of the South Platte. There is a route that ascends out of the river valley, but it appeared to be a straight up, shoulder the bike the whole way suffer fest only to loop back on dirt roads, so you're better off just doing an out and back.

Review: This was a great find! If you've ridden everything in the area and are looking for something new, and don't mind dismounting from time to time, than give this one a go. The initial climb will challenge you with its grade and rocks. Once you hit a mandatory dismount, the grade and the technical factor drop off sharply. But only for a bit--the jagged rock gardens reappear and become more and more frequent. The drop back down to the river is challenging in places and, while you're having all that fun, take note of the fact you'll have to climb back out on this same route. You will walk a bit. The rock gardens are tough enough and the dismounts frequent enough to hold this one back from being a great ride, but it's still well worth a stop, especially if you fancy yourself a strong technical rider.
