The Loup Loup Ski Bowl trail system sits approximately 2,000 feet above Washington's Methow Valley, and it will eventually offer riders nearly 40 miles of singletrack across some of the most dramatic terrain in the North Cascades. Located 30 to 45 minutes from Twisp or Winthrop, this small community ski area is transforming into a year-round mountain bike destination. With 16 miles already complete and rideable as of the end of 2025, the connected trail system provides access to steep, mountainous terrain featuring long slabs of flat granite and very steep side slopes that dry quickly.
The trails at Loup Loup deliver a variety of experiences for all types of riders. Oh Bother, a 1.7-mile advanced descent, gives riders three trail experiences in one: the upper section is technical, transitioning into straight flow before ending with a progressive style trail. The system incorporates both machine-built and hand-built features that work with the natural terrain, using the rocky landscape and granite slabs to create engaging lines. Trails like Fozzy Bear Inventions, the rehabbed Telemark trail, and the descending trail Ursus round out the current offerings.
The trail system uses the day lodge as a summer recreational hub, with trails designed to get people into the landscape and connect to as many routes as possible. The network includes trails within the ski resort boundary as well as connections to older Forest Service trails north of the ski hill. When complete, Loup Loup will offer one cohesive, connected trail system.
