Trail Description
About this trail
To ride the 629 trail as a loop start from the Smith's Ford Bridge on Maitai Valley Road. Follow the Pipeline Trail until it ends at a gravel road. Turn right after 50 metres and begin the long steep climb to the top. Watch out for the sharp left just before a clearing. From there the climb is even steeper! At the end of the road you'll see the 629 sign post.

The 629 trail is a grade 5 (expert) purpose-built, downhill, feature-rich mountain bike track with steep chutes, root drops, rock drops, rock gardens, tight switchbacks, ruts and it's generally narrow so there is not a lot of room for error. It's a trail that keeps throwing challenges at you but they are not extreme so expert riders will overcome most of them and be left with a feeling of exhilarating success!!

Review: The 629 trail has some notoriety having featured on Easton's Havoc release video. It's a downhill trail with cross-country features, has lots of variety, keeps you focused all the way, and can be joined with Sunrise Ridge for an epic challenge.
