Specialized The Captain S-WORKS 2Bliss Ready Tire

January 1, 2016

Model/Year: 2013

Pros: light, fast

Cons: thin sidewalls and weak

Recommendation: Probably a decent "trail" tire, but not for "enduro" or true mountain conditions. Not nearly enough traction for my conditions. Maybe a decent XC tire; not sure. I'd see as a rear tire in not so technical conditions.

Pros: Good climbing and cornering traction, rolls fast

Cons: Had it for about a month, and it was split open when I was going over a root (I was running 25 psi so it really should have been fine) Also, it barely fit on my frame giving it zero mud clearance Split makes me question the durability for price

Recommendation: Would not recommend, I know others that detest specialized tires as well

Model/Year: 2013

Pros: Excellent Traction in Snow

Cons: Not fast enough for me to be a year-round race wheel

Recommendation: I have this mounted on my fully rigid 29er Single Speed that I use primarily during Michigan Winters. It handles snow VERY well for both acceleration traction and side-to-side stabilization. Being tubeless helps bring the most traction to the surface by being able to run lower tire pressures as well.

Cons: thin sidewall

Recommendation: unless your a weight weenie, just go with the captain sport tire. Its much more durable

Model/Year: 2009

Pros: Good all around tire.

Cons: Not light enough to be an XC star or durable enough for downhill.

Recommendation: Reasonable price and tread treadlife. Over the years, I've burned thru 3 of these before I cut a sidewall on a rock (CO front range) - so they're pretty tough. I'll echo the point about the stans weeping thru the 2bliss sidewalls, but it eventually stops.

Pros: This is a very solid, "do everything" tire. It mounts up tubeless easily and is a great value.

Cons: Mine eventually developed a wobble--but after a ton of good use.

Pros: -Fast rolling
-Great traction
-No issues with tubeless setup

Cons: -Pricey at the LBS

Recommendation: Specialized knows what they're doing in the tire department. The Captain makes a great rear tire.
