Model/Year: 2016 Comp

Pros: Budget friendly, decent drive train and components.

Cons: Weight. No air fork.

Recommendation: To anyone looking for a cost-effective hardtail great for beginners or intermediate riders.

Pros: Price price price

Cons: Ok so after riding a higher end bike the shifting on this bike is now only "ok" still good but not great

Recommendation: I like it, I own it, I ride it a lot. I own 2 bike this one and a multi thousand dollar one, and they see the same miles each year.

Model/Year: 2012

Pros: Been riding it for 2-years now. Solid frame, great breaks, easy to maintain, fun ride.

Cons: Pedals seized after wet ride.

Recommendation: I'd buy it again. Great price/value. In 2 yrs, I've upgraded the pedals, hand-grips, seat, and more aggressive tires to match the terrain.

Pros: Triple Triangle Frame. Very competent off road manners.

Cons: Low end components.

Recommendation: Even with underwhelming Shimano drivetrain, this bike is well worth the admission price!

Pros: Good components, great frame, I have mine with a rock shock recon fork, and magic cross ride rims, mine is a 2011

Cons: Somewhat heavy

Recommendation: Great bike for the money, mine was about 1200 dollars

Model/Year: GT AVALANCHE 2.0

Pros: Excellent Frame, aggressive tires, affordable, a 'take you anywhere' hardtail. Excellent value, and dependable bike. Smashed more than 2000KM of hardcore technical on this bike, and will never sell it.

Cons: None really - rear deraileur is a little open, and tends to take many hits on technical trails - but never needed to replace it after easily 2000KM!

Recommendation: Amazing bike! Affordable, takes a beating and keeps on running! Buy it! It may be the last bike you ever own for cross country, some technical and everyday smashing into things.

Pros: Best aluminum hardtail frame out there.

Cons: Brakes suck but hey it's 800 bucks

Recommendation: Great start but be ready to either learn how to tune your components or to upgrade them, bikes under a grand need more maintenance.

Pros: Bomber frame, smooth shifter, looks great especially in white

Cons: Brakes are garbage

Recommendation: Overall very good entry level bike. You get what you pay for and a little bit more with this one. Frame is solid, which is the important thing. Components, although definitely not the best, are decent. Suntour xcm fork is pretty good especially w the lockout and preload adjuster. Shimano shifters r smooth enough. Biggest downside are the brakes. They have mediocre stopping power n the metal pads are LOUD. Like embarrassingly loud. People can hear me coming down the hill a mile away. Upgrade them right off the bat. Overall though i love this bike.

Pros: I'm 6'1 300 lbs. so I like the feel of being strong & strudy.
grey & black color is cool, good componets
light compared to other bikes w/lrg. fame size
I enjoy adjustments of front shock & the travel it has...
Dicount Price bc last yrs model...which has better componets anyways, picked up bike for $1000.

Cons: uncomfortable seat,
the fact that GT doesn't make it's clothing/riding wear available to ppl. like me I tired at bike shop "no luck"
didn't like stock grips
too many gears for me, rear derailer to long, would like to change it once it breaks..I feel chain comes off to easliy when riding track

Recommendation: My bike is an 09' Avalance Expert..I have some different componet, such as Juicey/Avid disc breaks
good ride feels strong, during ride bent 1 of front rings, so i went to a 2 ring set up instead of 3..

Pros: Decent shocks, shifting between gears is quick/smooth, comfortable positioning, good handling

Cons: haven't found one yet

Recommendation: I would definitely recommend this bike. It gives you the best bang for the buck. There are better bikes, but they are also more expensive. I don't think you'll find a better bike for the money. I have a 2010 Avalanche 3.0, and it has performed excellent with no problems after some very hard rides.
