Consumer direct, so great price point. No shipping in the U.S. and no tax outside of California.
Great customer service from Whyte (British company with California office)
Great trail geometry, feels like more than 130mm.
Easy to get up steep technical stuff, confident on the way back down.
Minimal bob front and rear without using lockouts.
Nimble, fast, and light feel.
WTB Vigilante and Trail Boss tires handle surprisingly well.
New Rockshox Revelation is great. Stout with 35mm stanchions!
Although they work fine, the SRAM level TL brakes are a little under powered for what this bike is capable of. Bigger rotors may be a quick cheap fix. Shimano fans won;t like the modulation (just different).
If you're looking for the proverbial "do it all" trail bike, the T-130 is a strong contender. Takes off and comes out of turns like a 26". Minimal pedal bob when cranking for speed on the flats. Sweeps nicely though fast turns. Not quite as plush on real little subtle stuff (probably more to do with the WTB's it comes with than suspension), but comes alive as things get rougher. Really addresses steep technical TTF's with a light feel. Easy to pop the front end up when you need to, but doesn't do so when you don't want it to. For such a short nimble feeling ride through slower technical challenges, it turns around and feels confident and long when things speed up and head nearly straight down. Interestingly, on a first ride, you almost completely forget that it's new to you, and it feels like you've been riding it for years.
This bike has a real feel of quality to it. Fit and finish is tight and well thought out. All of the pivot bearings are sealed, and have a lifetime warranty. Seat post hole has a seal as well. Even room for a water bottle if you want it.
BTW, the flat blue color looks much better in person, especially with the orange lettering.
