Betsy Welch

Betsy Welch is a journalist and registered nurse from Carbondale, Colorado. She was a longtime senior editor at Velo and contributor to Pinkbike and Outside, covering the culture, community, racing, and personalities of gravel cycling and cross-country mountain biking. Now she freelances for local and regional publications including the Colorado Sun, Spoke and Blossom, Crested Butte Magazine, and Field Mag, where her reporting spans sport, adventure, and mountain-town life. In the summer, Betsy can be found riding or running in the Elk Mountains, puttering in her garden, or road tripping around the West. In the winter, she skis uphill, often while scheming beach vacations. Her favorite adventure paradise is Hawaii's Big Island. No matter the season, she’s always trying to finish the Sunday New York Times crossword.
