Lake Seminole Park is home to Pinellas County's first-ever bike park and trail system, built by the SWAMP Mountain Bike Club — the same crew responsible for some of Florida's most celebrated riding, including Alafia River State Park and the 60-mile Croom trail system in Withlacoochee State Forest. For Pinellas County's nearly one million residents, who've long had to drive 45 minutes to an hour just to reach a decent trailhead, this one's a long time coming.
Phase one packs a ton of fun into a relatively small footprint — jumps, berms, and flow are the name of the game here. Professional trailbuilder Mike Cole of Natural Trailbuilding handled the construction, bringing the same craftsmanship he's applied to SWAMP projects throughout the Tampa Bay area. The result is a purpose-built bike park experience designed to hook newcomers and satisfy experienced riders alike.
The full vision for Lake Seminole extends to three phases and potentially 10 miles of singletrack, with phase two adding intermediate trails and a skills area, and phase three bringing more aggressive terrain into the mix. All phases are being built to NICA standards, with the potential to become Florida's only fully approved NICA event center. Adaptive riding access is also being evaluated. For now, phase one is the place to be — and for Pinellas County riders, it's about time.
