The newly completed Acorn Grotto Trail delivers 3.6 miles of singletrack descent on Mt. Hough, dropping 1,100 feet in elevation as it carves through varied terrain. This trail serves as a critical connector, linking the Indian Falls Ridge route to the Mt. Hough Trail system and tying into the Tollgate Creek Crossing where Berry Creek and the Mt. Hough Trail intersect. Built to accommodate two-way traffic including motorcycles, riders shouldn't expect dedicated downhill features or jump lines, but rather sustainable trail construction that handles multiple user types.
Like the rest of the Mt. Hough system, Acorn Grotto offers its own distinct flavor compared to other trails on the mountain. The topography presents different characteristics than the main Hough trail, contributing to the extensive trail variety that makes this 80-mile network so compelling. Since all trails in the system are moto-legal, they're also open to e-bikes, making this descent accessible to a wider range of riders looking to experience the Lost Sierra's newest singletrack offerings.
