The $242 track stand

Learning to track stand on your mountain or road bike takes practice and it’s tough for most people to hold steady for more than a few seconds. One rider in Oregon, however, learned it’s also expensive to do a track stand when he got a $242 traffic ticket for his performance at a traffic light.

Has anyone else ever heard that track standing at a stoplight is illegal?

I think the way the law is written for bicycles and motorcycles is that you must come to a full stop and put a foot down at a stop sign or a red light prior to proceeding. Least that’s the way it was in CA. Most police are not impressed by a solid 1-2min track stand while waiting for the light. Go figure.
