Think you can outrun a motorcycle on your bike?

Cyclelicio.us posted this article about a rider attempting to outrun a motorcycle cop on his Schwinn bicycle. Ricky Martin (no relation to the Latin pop sensation?) was trying to get home in time for the Super Bowl when he ran a red light on his bicycle. Thinking he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest, Martin attempted to elude the officer by taking the bike “off-road” but to no avail – Martin got nicked.
My question is this: would a pro rider have a better chance of out maneuvering the fuzz? Seems like a mountain bike can go alot of places a motorcycle can’t, but what do I know. I’d probably need to have several beers in me before I tried something like that…
