West Coast MTB News: Single speed bikes and Urban trails

posted April 18, 2008 by trek7k

A couple of interesting mountain bike news items from the west coast caught my attention this morning:

  • The San Francisco Chronicle posted an article on single speed mountain bikes that seems to be a good primer on the scene. The article even gets into some of the basics on gearing ratios and spells out the advantages to single speeding (like more efficient pedal stroke). This article pretty much cements my resolve to go single speed – one day ;)
  • The News Tribune out of the Seattle area has posted yet another article about the I-5 Colonnade mountain bike trail project. This article is actually about finding similar creative locations for mountain bike trails in other Washington counties but I just like the photos of the Colonnade trails ;)
