A sampling of upcoming mountain bike festivals around the globe:

Black Hills, South Dakota: The Terry Peak Mountain Festival will be held July 26 & 27 at the Terry Peak ski resort in the Black Hills of South Dakota. The lift accessible mountain bike trails will be open with lift service to the rad downhill race course as well. Proceeds will go toward the development of new mountain bike trails in the Black Hills area so mount up!

Whistler, British Columbia: The 13th Annual Sea to Sky Mountain Bike Trail Challenge is happening this weekend with a course that takes riders 150km from Birkenhead Lake to Squamish over 2 days. The event isn’t a race but it will certainly be a demanding and challenging ride for even the toughest mountain bikers.

Upper Carmen, Phillipines: The 2008 Congressman Rolando “Klarex” Uy Cup kicks off on Sunday. This is the first annual mountain bike challenge circuit challenge held in Upper Carmen and there are big prizes for the race winners.

Taupo’s Spa Park, New Zealand: The world’s largest 12-hour mountain bike event will be held Sep 13 and entry forms are available starting today. The Jamis Day Night Thriller will host 3,000 mountain bikers this year and there are even kids events planned to keep the tikes entertained.

The Sea and Sky MTB Challenge gets my vote for the most rad sounding – guess I should start planning now for 2009!
