Latest MTB Rumor: Iron Horse is no more?

posted February 27, 2009 by trek7k

GreenGiant’s Iron Horse MKIII Comp (more Iron Horse pics)

Singletracks member Luli79 alerted us to a forum thread supposedly posted by a former employee of Iron Horse who says the company has liquidated its inventory and has exited the MTB business. According to this former employee it’s a story of greed and mismanagement and has nothing to do with the current economic conditions. We’d love to get confirmation from anyone who has more info or who has dealt with Iron Horse customer service recently – let us hear yer story!

I read that post on MTBR and if that is true, all I can say is d4mn. It’s horrible to hear about anyone losing their jobs right now with this economy but when you hear how that happened you have to just shake your head and wonder. Iron Horse made a great bike and it’s too bad that they had to go out like that. Hopefully somebody picks up their guys who were out there doing things the-right-way-for-the-right-reasons and gives them another chance to stay in the bike field.

Just did a quick google news search and this article says they’ll still be around. It was written today may be true may not!

THIS IS A BOGUS STORY and it is all over the internet and has been banned from other sites. Yes, Iron Horse is having corporate issues presently, but they have NOT CLOSED nor are they LIQUIDATING IT EITHER. They may sell out to a foreign bike manufacture or have their MTB’s made in a foreign manufacturing company like many other bike companies have done. Most likely a misguided or disgruntled ex-employee out trying to smear IH’s name. I own two IH MTB’s and there customer service is fine. Not the best, but fine.
