Description: The trails here are some of the best, truely intown riding, that Atlanta has to offer. Be prepared to get muddy though; almost all the times that i have been here i have ended up extremely muddy. There is great single track for all levals of riding, including some pretty hairy down hills and a section of great whoop-to-dos. If u r the rider who loves the technical side of mountain biking and the great single track, then the waterworks is for u.

Rode it one time and found it interesting but unless you're local I wouldn't seek this out--lacked flow and nothing was marked. It looked like it was once a fun trail but with the park construction I think it has fallen into disrepair--too many trails zigging and zagging off in all directions without adequate markings. If you rode it enough you might piece together something fun but with so much else going on in the area I'd skip it if you're not local. If you're local then it's probably working as a nice after work ride. The ruins and creek were cool and the woods were dark and deep. Fun place but couldn't really get my heart pumping with the problems mentioned.

This trail never ceases to surprise me. I ride here a lot, mostly because it's very close to where I live. Every time I ride here, I find new trails and combinations of routes to take. It takes a long time to get used to the full layout of the place because it's surrounded by neighborhoods and creeks. If you want to really explore everything thing here, you need to look carefully. Be willing to cross a creek at the slightest indication of a trail on the other side. It's as if there are secret passageways all round the creeks. I rode Waterworks for over two hours yesterday and left knowing that I had left a lot of the trails untouched.

It's OK for in-town, but it's very small. You can ride all over the place in a very short amount of time.

As of May 17th the entrances and the first part of the trail are under construction until the bridges are done. According to the worker on site, it should be done in less than a month from now.

My home away from work (since I work at home). :) I ride here about twice a week and enjoy it too much. There are a great mix of short trails here that when connected make for a challenging ride. There are some basic warm-up windey singletracks and then some pretty steep drops, some of which I haven't tackled yet. There are some good technical areas as well. I am a newbie as of December 2010 and have been learning a great deal here. I highly recommend this valuable chunk of land in the middle of Atlanta. It may take you a couple of visits to put a good flow together but when you do, it's a blast! It's only six miles from my house so it makes for a great break during the day.

Miles of trails here - if you know where to look. It's easy to explore the singletrack off the paved path - just be courteous to hikers you encounter on the trails.

Bikers have "cleaned" all these trails in 2010. There are 5 sections of Waterworks. There are two entry points from the new bridge trail that access the North Face, POS, and the trail to the power lines. * Review edited 11/24/2010

Similar Trail: Nothing like it ITP!

It seems that the construction project is finally done. They put in a 1 mile walking trail with a huge elevated boardwalk that runs along one of the creeks. Most of the trails here are unmarked old hiking trails but you can bring your bike and link them up for about 1.5-2 miles of riding. It's actually a pretty cool area to explore with old ruins and a lot of graffitti art if you are into that sort of thing. Some parts of the trails will be a technical challenge while others are smooth sailing.

This trail is not worth the time of anyone on a bike, what appears to of been a nice ride at one point is gone. All the trails that still exist here are broken up by a construction project that cuts right through the middle of the network, the only reason I would come here is to donuts in a 4x4.

If you don't have anywhere to go, then yeah... maybe it's worth to stop by here... There are several blazed trails, but the only one I found to be accessible to MTB is the RED and WHITE trails. There are also some unmarked connectors to create some loops. But in all there are less than two miles of trails here. Lots of hikers and dogs to share the trails with.

good in town ride but nothin special. Best way to get there is to turn left McConnell Dr. off of Clairmont. Turn right at the split and go past Mason Mill Park. You will see a sign that says, "dead end, not turn around." Drive down this dirt road about 30o yards and park. The trail starts to your left.

Nice little gem of a ride tucked away in ATL. There's really something for everyone here; fast stretches, technical hills and turns, and a couple of pretty sweet jumps. It's a great ride to just go out and mess around on -- you're sure to have a pretty good time. It might take a little while to figure out the network, but there are enough variations to keep things interesting.

This is a great resource so close in town. The back way in off Willivee is now officially closed so don't bother trying that way. I took the boys--6 and 9--and they could handle some of the stuff to the right after you cross the bridge. I found a loop where they only had to dismount twice. Then I left them to throw stones off the bridge and did a couple of loops solo, got in a good workout while they had fun. It is rather hilly, so though its short you still have to work. You have to loop around a couple of times to get any distance, but the network of trails allows you to choose different paths. I hope this place stays open. I wonder who owns the land. Anyhow, this trail used to be called "Naked Red" because of a certain red haired man who liked to run their in the buff. The ruins are the old Decatur water works and they are sort of interesting if you want to take the time to walk around them. PS. I rated this as all 5's because I'm not experienced enough to really give a good rating.

I went on Saturday afternoon. It is certainly isn't well marked but it has some good, moderately challenging, stretches. I live about a mile away and never knew it was there. I plan on taking it on as a project and clean it up and mark it. I think it can be great with a little care.
