Description
Head up Mine Trail and stay to the left at the wye to continue on to Hidden

Springs Trail and you will cross Bernal Rd. Continue on Hidden Springs Trail until

you can turn right on Coyote Peak Trail. note: you will pass Coyote Peak Trail

but it will be a left only which is the wrong way.

Once you start heading down Coyote Peak Trail you'll head up and over the first

peak and you will make a right at the top of the second peak at Rocky Ridge

Trail. Have and be careful going down Rocky Ridge Trail.

Make a right at Mine Trail which will be close to the parking lot, continue on

mine trail and it will turn in to Hidden Springs Trail.

To get back you can either take the same trail or turn of at Ohlone Trail and

follow that down to Bernal.

Review: As the name suggests, a rocky trail with gradual increases in technical sections as you ascend. A gruel to go up, it more than makes up for itself as you bounce back to the bottom. Can be linked up with nearby trails to avoid the rocks on your way up/down (steep fire-road instead) -- but where's the fun in that? Full suspension highly recommended.

Review: I recently got back into mountain biking after a 25 year layoff. I'm 50 now and my doctor recommended exercising to reduce my colesterol and drop some lbs. Santa Teresa Park is close by my home, so I do about half my riding there. I split my riding between paved bike path and single track. I ride a 1980s vintage Miyata Ridge Runner with no suspension. I do Rocky Ridge and Stiles Ranch with no problem. The trail is not too long, but fun and has some challenges. You're either climbing or descending the steep hills in this area. My biggest challenge is traction while climbing the loose gravel, so I'm sure some suspension would help. I'm looking forward to a new 29er next year that will only cost an arm. Any recommendations?
