Dedicated light units are crucial to expanding the mountain bike season in the fall, and in general from keeping the darkness from keeping you off the bike. The best mountain bike lights feature a high lumen count, wide beam pattern, and a long burn time. And if they can do all of those things in a lightweight package, then so much the better!

The giants in the light market include Niterider and Light and Motion. However, newer companies that feature much more affordable products, such as Magicshine and Lumintrek, are now making up a big market share.
